Thursday afternoon will bring a mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures reaching the low 80s and only isolated storms possible. Finally, Friday will be hotter and drier than the previous days, so be sure to keep up with the latest forecast.

Thunderstorms and Rain Expected

Today is sure to be an exciting day in Middle Georgia, as multiple rounds of thunderstorms and rain are expected. The initial round of storms is already moving through West Central Georgia and should continue through the afternoon. Then, a secondary line of storms is forecast to move in overnight, bringing with it the potential for large hail, damaging wind gusts, and even a few tornadoes. Finally, showers and thunderstorms will continue through Thursday evening, with areas south of Interstate 20 being the most likely to see locally heavy rainfall and up to five inches of rain across the region.

Despite the rain and storms, temperatures will remain well above-average in the mid-to-upper 70s. But the good news is that drier and warmer conditions will return to the area Friday bringing some much needed relief.

This brief spell of stormy weather is quickly drawing to a close. Wednesday night and Thursday morning will offer pleasant and mild conditions, while the conditions on Friday may reach much hoter and drier levels. Meanwhile, north Georgia must remain weary as several counties remain under Flood Warning with the chances of rain and hail only being a little higher than this period. Finally, schools in Troup county canceled associated activities for today in response to National Weather Service issuing of a Tornado Warning. Despite the minor impact that this spell of tumultuous weather has made in America, parents are still advised to monitor their kids safety closely and all taken into account this expected to dissipate over the next few days due to favorable weather ahead.
