Located 35 miles Southwest of Atlanta, Senoia is a historic town full of charm and culture. Senoia, Georgia is a small town located 35 miles Southwest of Atlanta. Its roots can be traced back to 1828 when a large group of people migrated from Newberry, South Carolina to settle in this area. In 1905, Senoia was officially chartered and has since been listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its collection of buildings from the 1840s. The source of its unique name is uncertain, though the most popular theory suggests that it was named after Captain William McIntosh’s wife, Senoya He-ne-ha.

History of Senoia Raceway and Senoia Area Historical Society and Museum

The Senoia Raceway is a proud and positive milestone in Georgia’s history, having been built in 1969 by Hence Pollard and David Bishop and recently repurchased by the Pollard family. This 3/8th-of-a-mile oval dirt track has provided entertainment for over 50 years and is sure to continue that tradition with the Pollard family at the helm. Additionally, the Senoia Area Historical Society and Museum, formed in 1977, is devoted to preserving, securing, and promoting the history of the area. The gothic revival-styled home hosting the museum was built in the 1870s by the McKnight family, who still resides in the area today.
